Actor Vemal has been in a transition phase from bad to good. After enduring a difficult period, he is slowly rejuvenating his career. The Evanukku Engeyo Matcham Irukku actor had a recent outing last month in Pogumidam Vegu Thooramillai directed by filmmaker Micheal K Raja. The Desingu Raja star will soon have yet another release in the upcoming project christened Sir. Actress Chaya Devi Kannan will be seen in the female lead role in the film. Actor and politician Bose Venkat is set to embark on a journey as a director with the entertainer. Writer Suguna Diwakar has written the story of Sir. Recently India celebrated its teacher’s day. Taking to the occasion the production team has dropped a special glimpse video to celebrate the day. Film maker Bose Venkat took to his official X handle, to share the special glimpse video from Sir and worded, “Happy teachers’ day.”
Nearly one minute video opens to the voiceover of actor Saravanan, “Do you know what a teacher means? It means someone who corrects our mistakes. There are so many professions to make money in this world. But a teacher’s job is the only job that pays for doing a service. What a mother cannot teach, what a father cannot help understand his kid, teachers can. That is the reason why they celebrate teachers by placing them below parents and above god.” Sir is touted to be a sociopolitical drama which has actor Vemal portraying a school teacher who takes it upon himself to defend the school he works in from going into the clutches of greedy politicians who are desperate to bulldoze it down. Initially the flick was titled Ma Po Si. But the production team decided to change it. Describing the decision, director Bose Venkat revealed, “We had to change the title of our film due to various reasons. It is not a big deal. We are so happy that we got an even better title.”
Besides Vemal and Chaya Devi Kannan, the casting unit of Sir includes actors Saravanan, Vijay Murugan, Aadukalam Jayabalan, Siraj S, and Rama. Music composer Siddhu Kumar of Theera Kaadhal fame has handled musical instruments for the drama. Two numbers titled ‘Panangarukka’ and ‘Poovasanai’ are out from the album. Cinematographer Iniyan J Harish has been behind the lens for the flick. Editor Sreejith Sarang has been bestowed with the responsibility to trim the project. The venture is bankrolled by Nilofer Siraj and Siraj S for their production company SSS Pictures. Auteur Vetrimaaran has bagged the rights to present the entertainer under his home banner Grass Root Film Company.
On the work front, actor Vemal is busy shooting for the sequel of his hit drama Desingu Raja under the direction of Ezhil. Actress Pujita Ponnada has been booked to play the female lead part in the flick. Apart from this project, the Thudikkum Karangal actor is awaiting the release of his long-delayed movies Sandakkari helmed by Madhesh in which he has collaborated with actress Shriya Saran, Lucky crafted by Prasanth Pandiyaraj, and Enga Pattan Sothu filmed by Sargunam in which he has associated with actress Anicka Vikhraman.
