Actor Vaibhav who did not have a proper release in 2023 has begun this year with a bang. The RK Nagar star opened his account with Ranam Aram Thavarel and later played a supporting role in Vijay’s GOAT – The Greatest Of All Time. He is now gearing up for yet another release in the upcoming project christened Chennai City Gangsters in which he has depicted the lead part. Directors Vikram Rajeshwar, son of popular story teller K Rajeshwar, and Arun Keshav have penciled and crafted the drama. Actress Athulya Ravi of Murungakkai Chips fame has been cast as the pair. Currently the venture is getting shaped in the post production. An official announcement regarding the release date is expected to be made in the coming days.
The makers have been actively promoting the film across all platforms. The teaser of the venture was launched by actor Arun Vijay a couple of months ago. Now the production unit has unveiled the trailer of the movie on social media. Taking to his official X account, actor Vaibhav dropped the trailer of Chennai City Gangsters and captioned it, “The official trailer for Chennai City Gangsters is here! Watch as all your favorite stars and comedians come together for a non-stop laughter riot.” Here is the post made by the actor.
Two minute trailer of Chennai City Gangsters begins with a gang headed by Anandraj inspecting a building where they are about to abduct a girl, on the spot he asks, “Would it be 2.5 to 3 grounds of land?” Another character adds, “How much does a ground cost here?” Everyone starts to put a number. Irked Vaibhav intrudes, “We are here to kidnap a girl. Not here to purchase land. Go Kidnap her.” The scene then cuts to actress Athulya Ravi asking Vaibhav, “Were not you ‘porikki’ Pandi in school?” Vaibhav denies, “Jenny, that was C Pandi. I am A Pandi.” Actor Vaibhav seems to suffer from a condition where he begins to workout whenever he feels anxious. The trailer ends with Redin Kingsley enquiring Vaibhav, “Why should you die?” He responds, “Let me tell you my sob story. I was in love with a girl.” Redin Kingsley retorts, “Then you are better off dead!”
The star cast of Chennai City Gangsters includes actors Anandraj, Naan Kadavul Rajendran, Ilavarasu, John Vijay, Livingston, Redin Kingsley, P L Thenappan, Sunil Reddy, Manikandan Rajesh, and Shihan Hussaini. Music composer D Imman has scored music for the drama. A single titled ‘Meyya Mummari’ is already out from the album. Cinematographer Tijo Tomu has been behind the lens for the flick. Editor Suresh A Prasad has been tasked with trimming the movie. Art director Arun Shankar Durai has designed sets for the project. Stunt master Don Ashok has fashioned action moves. Chennai City Gangsters is funded by Bobby Balachandran under the production company BTG Universal Production.
On the professional front, actor Vaibhav is waiting for the release of his long-delayed film Aalambana directed by Pari K Vijay in which he has shared screen space with actress Parvati Nair. On the other hand, actress Athulya Ravi will soon have her next outing in Diesel filmed by director Shanmugam Muthusamy in which she has co starred with actor Harish Kalyan.
