Actor Vaibhav was last seen on screens in a supporting part in GOAT – The Greatest Of All Time scripted by Venkat Prabhu with actor/politician Vijay and Sneha as leads. The Meyaadha Maan star will soon open his account this year in his upcoming dark comedy entertainer christened Perusu in which he has portrayed the lead role. Sri Lankan director Ilango Ram will be setting foot in Kollywood with this drama. Writer Balaji Jayaraman has written dialogues and helped with shaping the screenplay of the film. Actress Chandini Tamilarasan and popular social media content creator Niharika N M will be seen in the female lead roles. Sunil, actor and brother of Vaibhav has played a pivotal role in the drama.
The production house has now released the teaser of the film on social media along with its release date. Perusu is slated to be out in theaters worldwide on 14th of March this year. Taking to their official X account, the production team of Stone Bench dropped the teaser of Perusu and captioned it, “PERUSU – The Tease . . . After Death at a Funeral, here comes Fun at a Funeral! Perusu Panna Periya Problem! What’s with all the staring? Keep staring to know more! In theatres from March 14th!” Here is the post made by the production unit.
One-minute odd teaser of Perusu begins with relatives of a dead man looking at his corpse with shock and bewilderment. Actor Redin Kingsley’s character walks in and says, “Sir can I say something?” On Vaibhav’s approval he says, “If we die, we should die as your father. Mass!” Perusu is the official Tamil remake of the superhit Sri Lankan drama Tentigo. It is a story about two brothers who are faced with discomfiture after they find their dead father with an active erection. Their attempt to keep it a secret and resolve the issue before the funeral makes the rest of the story.
Beside Vaibhav, Niharika N M, Chandini Tamilarasan, and Sunil, the cast of the movie also has actors Redin Kingsley, Karunakaran, VTV Ganesh, Bala Saravanan, Sathya Thilakam, and Deepa Shankar essaying pivotal supporting roles. Music director Arun Raj has composed music for songs in the drama. While musician K S Sundaramurthy has scored the background track of the venture. Cinematographer Sathya Thilakam has been trusted with the cinematography division of the flick. Editor Sooriya Kumaraguru has been tasked with trimming the movie. Art director Sunil Villuwamangalath has designed sets for the project. Stunt master T G Dilip Kumar has fashioned action moves. The project is funded by S Kaarthekeyen under the production house Ember Light Studios partnering with Harman Baweja for the banner house Baweja Studios Ltd, and Hiranya Perera under the production company Silent Frames Productions.
On the work front, actor Vaibhav is awaiting consecutive releases via the fantasy film Aalambana scripted by newbie director Pari K Vijay in which he has romanced actress Parvati Nair, and the comedy heist flick Chennai City Gangsters crafted by Vikram Rajeshwar & Arun Keshav in which he will be seen alongside actress Athulya Ravi of Murungakkai Chips fame. Apart from this entertainer, he has his long-delayed drama Ace Raja Rani Jackie And Joker helmed by Anil Sunkara in which he has featured alongside actors Shaam, Vimala Raman, and Sneha Ullal in the box waiting to see the light of day.
