Actor Vela Ramamoorthy announced his arrival into Tamil cinema loud and clear with his antagonist part in Madha Yaanai Koottam helmed by Vikram Sugumaran with actor Kathir as lead. Over time he has earned himself a notorious reputation as a menacing antagonist. Thanks to his tall and stout structure. But soon he will be seen in a different shade as a compassionate and emotive man in his upcoming film Veerayi Makkal. Filmmaker Nagaraj Karuppaih has written and directed the entertainer. The late actor Marimuthu has portrayed a key role in the movie. The makers have announced that the entertainer will be out in theaters on 9th of August this year.
The production team has now released the trailer of the drama. The two minute trailer begins with the character played by Vela Ramamoorthy reflecting out loud, “I have lost all my brothers who used to cling to my arm and follow me as kids. I have missed my brothers who sat on my shoulder to watch the village fair.” The trailer throws in a few poignant family events that shake up the family. It ends with Vela Ramamoorthy’s character saying, “There is only one birth. We came into the world as brothers. Let us live as brothers and vanish.”
Veerayi Makkal is touted to be an emotional family drama set in the rural backdrop. Earlier speaking about the film to a leading media house, storyteller Nagaraj Karuppaih said, “Veerayi Makkal will be an intense rural family drama. We have tried to emphasize the importance of family and family values. The film will focus on the intricate relationship between siblings who had strong bonds as children but have thrown them away due to ego as adults. In today’s world most of us direct all our attention on making money. Yes, making money is significant but we should also ensure our bond with our family members is sound and good. Because at the end of the day mere materialistic gains do not give us real happiness. There is also a small anecdote regarding how we should bridge the generation gap in a family. I am confident the audience will love the drama.”
Apart from actors Vela Ramamoorthy and Marimuthu, Veerayi Makkal has actors Deepa Shankar, Suresh Nandha, Nandhana, Rama, Senthil Kumari, Jerald Milton, and Pandi Akka essaying various other supporting roles. Musician Deepan Chakravarthy has composed music for the drama. Cinematographer M Seenivasan has been behind the camera. Editor Mugan Vel has brought coherence to the flick. Veerayi Makkal is produced by Suresh Nandha under his production label White Screen Films.
