Actor RJ Balaji had his last outing in Mookuthi Amman which had actress Nayanthara and himself in the lead roles. The project garnered mixed reviews from the critics and audience alike. But still went on to register a decent commercial success. The LKG actor who is currently basking in the success of Mookuthi Amman is gearing up for the release of his upcoming family entertainer titled Veetla Vishesham. The flick is poised to hit the theaters on 17th of June this year. The first look poster of the movie piqued the interest of the audience. Now, the production house has dropped the trailer of the flick on social media.
Actor RJ Balaji took to his official twitter handle, and shared the trailer of the movie with the caption, “Here’s our Veetla Vishesham trailer.” Along with a message in Tamil that roughly translates to, “From June 17 it is going to be a function (Vishesham) in everyone’s house. Aunty, Uncle, Brother, Sister, dei green sattai, everyone come along with your family for FDFS okay!”
The one and a half minute trailer opens with actress Urvashi telling a doctor that she is not feeling well for the past two days. The doctor responds, it is fatigue. She says irrespective of what she eats, she is experiencing a vomiting sensation. He tells, it is nausea. Then we see Sathyaraj with a pregnancy test strip in hand, enquiring the doctor as to what line indicates pregnancy. Later not knowing how to convey the news of pregnancy to his grown-up son RJ Balaji, he ambiguously says that they are going to have a new guest at their house. RJ Balaji is shocked. The trailer ends with a song where everyone around them makes fun of the couple.
An old film of veteran actor K. Bhagyaraj has the title ‘Veetla Visheshanga’. However, RJ Balaji’s Veetla Vishesham has no relevance to it. As it is the official Tamil remake of blockbuster Bollywood film Badhaai Ho. The drama was directed by Amit Ravindrenath Sharma with actors Ayushmann Khurranna, Neena Gupta, and Sanya Malhotra in the lead roles. The film tells the tale of a middle-aged couple that accidentally get pregnant, which puts their son and family members in an uncomfortable spot.
Actor RJ Balaji has co-written and co-directed the Tamil version of the drama along with his associate NJ Saravanan. Both previously came together for the venture Mookuthi Amman. Apart from actor RJ Balaji, the film has actors Sathyaraj, Urvashi, K. P. A. C. Lalitha, Aparna Balamurali, Shivani Narayanan, Pavithra Lokesh, Visvesh, Yogi Babu, Mayilsamy, Pugazh, Deepa, George Maryan, and Kavithalayaaa Krishnan in various other supporting roles. Music director Girishh Gopalakrishnan has composed the music for the film. Cinematographer Karthik Muthukumar has been behind the camera for the movie. The editing department of the entertainer has been handed over to editor Selva R. K. The flick is funded by Boney Kapoor for his banner house Bayview Projects LLP.
On the work front, actor RJ Balaji who was last seen on screens in Mookuthi Amman is getting ready for the release of his long-delayed project christened Yung Mung Sung helmed by filmmaker M. S. Arjun, in which he played the sidekick of actor Prabhu Deva.
