Actor Vemal was last seen on screens last year in the action-drama Sir helmed by storyteller Bose Venkat with actress Chaya Devi Kannan as female lead. The Oru Oorla Rendu Raja star will soon be returning to digital space with his upcoming web series christened Om Kali Jai Kali. Director Ramu Chellappa has written and directed the series. Actor and writer Kumaravel has helped in shaping the screenplay of the series. Big Boss fame actress Pavani Reddy, who has played a slew of supporting roles in Tamil cinema will be seen in the female lead role in the project. The makers have now released the teaser of the venture on social media. Taking to their official X account, Jio Hotstar Tamil OTT platform shared the teaser of Om Kali Jai Kali and wrote, “ஓம் காளி ஜெய் காளி விரைவில். Hotstar Specials. Om Kali Jai Kali Coming Soon on Jio Hotstar. OKJK. OKJK on Jio Hotstar. OKJK Teaser. Jio Hotstar Tamil.” Here is the post made by the OTT platform.
The 50 seconds odd teaser of Om Kali Jai Kali starts with a religious village festival with a voiceover, “In this forest, the spirit in the well rises only after our rituals. We send our divinely possessed man into the well. He will die in the well. We will lift him up and call up on the spirit. The spirit will possess the dead man.” We witness actor Vemal as a street theater artist who plays the part of village divinity in the festival ceremonies. In a shot we see a character saying, “You think it is easy to fight them? Killing is what they do for a living.” We are then given a few glimpses of Vemal and a few others brutally killing people. The teaser ends with a voiceover, “Hey, the spirit has come. Let us take her to our village festival.”
Beside Vemal and Pavani Reddy, the casting unit of Om Kali Jai Kali also has actors Pugazh, VJ Maheswari, Seema Biswas, R S Sivaji, G M Kumar, Prema, Kumaravel, Queency, Dhivya Duraisamy, Ganja Karuppu, and V I S Jayapalan portraying various supporting characters. Music composer Karthik Raja has been brought on board to work on the musical division of the project. Cinematographer Rajesh Shukla has been behind camera for the drama. Editor K L Praveen has been signed in to oversee the editing department of the entertainer. Art director Shanmugaraja has engineered sets for the venture. Stunt master K Rajasekhar has fashioned action moves for the drama. Om Kali Jai Kali is bankrolled by the Jio Hotstar OTT platform.
On the work front, actor Vemal will next be entertaining audiences in Badava directed by film maker K V Nanda in which he has shared screen space with actor Soori. The Mapla Singam actor is presently engaged in his future films Desingu Raja 2 helmed by director Ezhil in which he will be seen alongside actress Pujita Ponnada, and Belladonna scripted by Santhosh Babu Muthusamy. Beside these movies, the Thudikkum Karangal actor has three of his long-delayed dramas Sandakkari filmed by Madhesh in which he has collaborated with actress Shriya Saran, Enga Pattan Sothu directed by Sargunam in which he has featured alongside actress Anicka Vikhraman, and Lucky crafted by Prasanth Pandiyaraj in the box waiting to see the light of day.
