Actor Vemal is gradually trying to free himself from the financial shackles that held him down for the past few years. The Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal star put on a spectacular performance alongside actor Karunas in last month’s release Pogumidam Vegu Thooramillai which hit the theaters under Micheal K Raja’s direction. The Sillunu Oru Sandhippu actor will soon have yet another release in the upcoming project christened Sir. Actress Chaya Devi Kannan has portrayed the female lead role in the project. Actor and politician Bose Venkat will make his debut as a director with the drama. Author Suguna Diwakar has written the story of Sir. The makers have not announced the release date of the flick yet.
The film’s trailer launch event took place recently in Chennai. Auteur Vetrimaaran who is presenting Sir under his production banner Grass Root Film Company graced the function and unveiled the trailer. The production team has now released the trailer on social media. Taking to his official X handle, actor Arya dropped the link to the trailer of Sir and captioned it, “A teacher’s voice for justice! Two minute trailer of Sir opens to actor Saravanan telling Vemal, “Do you know what a teacher means? It means someone who rights mistakes. But you do not look like someone capable of doing that.” The shot cuts to actor Vemal introducing himself, “My name is Nyanam. Mangolai Ponnarasan Sivanyanam.” We are then given a few glimpses of the lead pair’s romance. The second half of the trailer gets serious and we see a group of regressive men trying to bring down an educational institute in a village. Sir is touted to be a sociopolitical drama which has actor Vemal portraying a school teacher who takes it upon himself to defend the school he works in from going into the clutches of greedy politicians who are desperate to bulldoze it down.
Star cast of Sir has actors Vijay Murugan, Sriram Karthick, Saravanan, Siraj S, Aadukalam Jayabalan, and Rama depicting various supporting roles. Music director Siddhu Kumar of Theera Kaadhal fame has composed music for the film. Cinematographer Iniyan J Harish has operated cameras for the entertainer. Editor Sreejith Sarang has been roped in to edit the drama. Art director Bharathi Buddha has designed the background for the venture. The movie is funded by Nilofer Siraj and Siraj S under their production label SSS Pictures.
On the work front, actor Vemal is in the sets of director Ezhil shooting for the sequel of their superhit movie Desingu Raja. Actress Pujita Ponnada has been signed in to play the love interest of the star in the entertainer. Beside this flick, the Deiva Machan actor has three of his long-delayed projects Lucky helmed by director Prasanth Pandiyaraj, Sandakkari filmed by Madhesh in which he has romanced actress Shriya Saran, and Enga Pattan Sothu directed by Sargunam in which he has shared screen space with actress Anicka Vikhraman.
