Kollywood film industry’s actor and director Sasikumar’s recent release “Vetrivel” has finally hit screens and the movie features Miya George and Nikila in female lead roles. Vasantha Mani has written and directed the movie, who has earlier worked as an assistant director for Vasanta Balan.
Actors like Prabhu, Viji Chandrasekhar, Samutrakani, Thambi Ramaiah, Illavarasu, Ananth Nag and many have done the supporting roles. SR. Kathir has made the excellent cinematography and AL. Ramesh has done the editing part well. D.Imman’s music was below par, but his background scores was top-notch.
“Adiye Unna Paathida,” “Onnappola Oruthana” and “Athuva Ithuva” songs have grabbed some attention. The music director is known for his superb composition and he already has proven his mettle in the Kollywood film industry. But this time he has made a pretty sloppy music. Just like usual Sasikumar movie, this movie also has a moralizing theme about love.
The story is about two brothers Sasikumar and Ananth Nag and it is set in rural background. Sasikumar’s parents’ roles are played by Illavarasu and Renuka. Sasikumar is the owner of a fertilizer shop and the heroine Mia George is an officer in Government agriculture Department. When the hero’s brother falls in love with the daughter of the Village Panchayat President the twist starts. Sasikumar helps for brothers love by kidnapping the girl. But they kidnap the wrong girl and what happens to the twist forms the rest of the story.
The length of the movie is too long and despite crispy editing we feel the movie is too sluggish. Sasikumar’s acting in some scenes are little boring and it brings memories of his past movies. Miya George has done justice to her role. The movie has romance, comedy, emotions and friends’ sentiments. Thambi Ramaiah’s comedy is excellent. But still due to the boring and routine screenplay, the movie falls flat.
Overall, ‘Vetrivel’ is another disappointment from Sasikumar!
