Actor Sasikumar ventured into Tamil cinema with multiple avatars as a storyteller, actor, and producer in his debut period action drama Subramaniapuram which went on to be a cult classic. The Naan Mirugamaai Maara actor who was last seen in a supporting role in Garudan had a release in Nandhan recently. The venture hit the theaters worldwide last weekend. The entertainer opened to mixed reviews from critics. But many political leaders including Thol Thirumavalavan, head of Viduthalai Siruthai party and Seeman, supremo of Naam Tamilar party had extended their appreciation to the team of Nandhan after watching the flick. Storyteller Era Saravanan, who had previously worked with actor Sasikumar in Udanpirappe, has penciled and directed the film. Actress Sruthi Periyasamy of Vaazhvu Thodangumidam Neethanae fame has played the love interest of the actor in the movie.
The Nandhan team has been promoting the project aggressively on social media. Director Era Saravanan had shared a short clip from the venture a couple of days back. Now they have released the video song titled ‘Kaala Varuthu’ from the flick on social media. Singer Muthu Sirpi has lent his voice for the song. Lyricist Eravi has written lyrics for the number. Music composer Ghibran Vaibodha has scored music for the film. Nandhan is a story about an ordinary man hailing from a scheduled caste who puts up a fight against a former village board president belonging to a dominant community for the rights of his people. The flick was shot in and around the surroundings of Thanjavur and Pudukkottai.
Besides Sasikumar and Sruthi Periyasamy, the star cast of the entertainer has actors Balaji Sakthivel, Samuthirakani, Mathesh, Mithun, Katta Erumbu Stalin, V Gnanavelu, G M Kumar, Sithan Mohan, and Sakthi Saravanan depicting various supporting character. Cinematographer R V Saran has handled camera gears for the movie. Editor Nelson Anthony has been brought on board to bring coherence to the drama. Art director C Udhayakumar has fashioned a background for the venture. Stunt master John Mark has fashioned action blocks. The project is backed by Era Saravanan himself for his production company Era Entertainment. R Ravindran distributed the movie under his production label Trident Arts.
On the professional front, actor Sasi Kumar is currently occupied in his upcoming films Freedom directed by storyteller Sathyasiva in which he will be romancing actress Lijo Mol Jose, and Evidence helmed by director Ranjith Manikandan in which he will be sharing screen space with actor Naveen Chandra. Apart from these flicks, the Kombu Vatcha Singamda star has Pagaivanuku Arulvai scripted by Anees in which he will be seen alongside actresses Vani Bhojan and Bindhu Madhavi, and Naa Naa crafted by N V Nirmal in which he has collaborated with actor Sarathkumar in the shelves awaiting release.
