Actor Vikram was last seen in the action thriller Mahaan which hit the screens under the direction of film maker Karthik Subbaraj with actress Simran in the female lead. The entertainer did not live up to the expectations, and as a result ended up doing a poor business. The Kadaram Kondan actor has moved on, and is now getting ready for the release of one of the most anticipated movies of the year Cobra. The action thriller is penned and directed by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu of Imaikkaa Nodigal fame. The project which went on floors in the year 2019 has been shot in Kerala, Kolkata, and Russia and is made in a whooping budget of 90 crores.
Now the production unit has announced the release date of the drama on social media. Cobra is scheduled to hit the theaters worldwide on 31st of this month. Taking to their official twitter account, the production house shared a poster from the flick with the message, “Cobra (Tamil – Telugu – Kannada) In theaters worldwide from August 31. Chiyaan Vikram. An Ajay Gnanamuthu film. An A. R. Rahman musical.” Here is the post made by the production house.
In the poster shared by the production house, the actor is seen in a modish getup holding a boxing pose trying to fight a couple of what seems like ninja fighters while its heavily raining. It is said that actor Vikram will be seen in 20 different looks in the drama. The chic look of the actor and the poster designs have set a towering expectation on the flick. It would only be safe to assume that the anticipation will skyrocket after the release of the trailer.
Apart from actor Vikram, actress Srinidhi Shetty of KGF fame has played the female lead in the entertainer. Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan is set to make his debut in Tamil cinema as an antagonist. The film has an ensemble cast that includes actors Miya George, Roshan Mathew, Sarjano Khalid, Padmapriya Janakiraman, Kanika, Mirnalini Ravi, Meenakshi Govindarajan, K. S. Ravikumar, Robo Shankar, Babu Antony, Anandaraj, Shaji Chen, Mamukkoya, Poovaiyar, Renuka, and Sudheer Karamana in various other supporting roles.
The music for the entertainer is composed by A. R. Rahman. The music album of the drama which was released last month has enjoyed a good reception among the music lovers. Cinematographer Harish Kannan has cranked the camera for the flick. The editing division of the film has been handed over to editor Bhuvan Srinivasan. The entertainer is bankrolled by S. S. Lalit Kumar under the production house Seven Screen Studios. Udhayanithi Stalin of Red Giant Movies will be distributing the flick worldwide.
On the work front, actor Vikram who was last seen on screens in Mahaan is gearing up for the release of his next magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan directed by auteur Mani Ratnam in which he has played the role of ancient king Aditya Karikalan. The movie is slated to hit the screens on 30th of September. The actor will shortly begin shooting for his upcoming untitled project under the direction of story teller Pa. Ranjith. Besides this the actor has his long delayed venture Dhruva Natchathiram helmed by Gautham Vasudev Menon in which he has shared the screen space with actress Aishwarya Rajesh in the shelves awaiting release.
