Actor Vikram had a last outing in the action thriller Mahaan which hit the theaters under the direction of story teller Karthik Subbaraj with actress Simran as female lead. The entertainer did not live up to the expectations, and as a result did not do well commercially. The Kadaram Kondan actor has moved on, and is now gearing up for the release of his upcoming action thriller titled Cobra. Director R. Ajay Gnanamuthu of Imaikkaa Nodigal fame has helmed the drama. Actress Srinidhi Shetty of KGF fame has played the female lead. The project which went on floors in the year 2019 has been shot in Kerala, Kolkata, and Russia and is made in a massive budget of 90 crores. Cobra is poised to hit the screens on 31st of this month.
Now the production unit has dropped the trailer of the film on social media. Taking to their official twitter account, the production house shared the trailer along with a poster from the flick and wrote, “Every problem has a mathematical solution. Dropping the Cobra trailer right now. Chiyaan Vikram’s Cobra. An Ajay Gnanamuthu film. An A. R. Rahman musical.” Here is the trailer shared by the production house.
The two minutes odd trailer cut opens with actor Vikram strappado upside down and subjected to custodial torcher. Quickly it shifts to an overseas location giving us a glimpse of Vikram in various looks. A voiceover tells us that he is like a cobra. He knows how to change appearance to sneak through, also to step back and hit. The trailer gives us a hint that Cobra is going to be action packed.
Actor Vikram will be seen in 20 different getups in Cobra. The first look poster of the flick drew the attention of the audience and set high expectations on the flick. The trailer is sure to raise the anticipation bar higher. Apart from actors Vikram and Srinidhi Shetty, Cobra has former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan making his debut in Tamil cinema. The casting department of the drama has actors Miya George, Roshan Mathew, Sarjano Khalid, Padmapriya Janakiraman, Kanika, Mirnalini Ravi, Meenakshi Govindarajan, K. S. Ravikumar, Robo Shankar, Babu Antony, Anandaraj, Shaji Chen, Mamukkoya, Poovaiyar, Renuka, Sindhu Shyam, and Mohammad Ali Baig essaying various other supporting roles.
Music director A. R. Rahman has composed the music for the movie. The musical album of the drama which was released a couple of months ago has had a good reception. Cinematographer Harish Kannan has been behind the lens for the entertainer. Editor Bhuvan Srinivasan will be editing the flick. The venture is funded by S. S. Lalit Kumar under the banner house Seven Screen Studios. Udhayanithi Stalin of Red Giant Movies will be distributing the movie worldwide.
On the work front, actor Vikram who was last seen on screens in the action thriller Mahaan is getting ready for another release in the likes of director Mani Ratnam’s epic historical drama Ponniyin Selvan in which he has depicted the role of ancient king Aditya Karikalan. The entertainer is set to hit the screens on 30th of September this year. The actor is currently busy shooting for his next venture tentatively titled Chiyaan 61 under the directorial of film maker Pa. Ranjith. Apart from these projects, the actor has his long-delayed project christened Dhruva Natchathiram filmed by director Gautham Vasudev Menon in which he has co starred with actress Aishwarya Rajesh in the shelves awaiting release.
