The successful evolution of actor Yogi Babu from a comedian to a lead hero is nothing short of remarkable. Even after churning out quite a number of projects in quick succession, the actor still manages to keep his call sheet tight – both for comedian and lead hero roles. The Local Sarakku star was last seen on screens in the action thriller Haraa helmed by G Vijay Sri with veteran actor Mohan in the lead. The Boomer Uncle actor is now getting ready for the release of his upcoming flick Boat. Director Chimbu Deven of Imsai Arasan 23 M Pulikesi fame has written and directed the entertainer. Actress Gouri G Kishan of 96 fame has played a key part in the flick.
Boat is poised to hit the theaters on 2nd of August this year. The makers themselves have officially announced the news on social media. Taking to their official X account, the makers dropped a promo clip from the entertainer and wrote, “Presenting our next association for the release of Yogi Babu’s Boat! A survival thriller releasing in theatres on Aug 2nd. Produced by Maali and Manvi Movie Makers & Chimbudeven Entertainment. Directed by Chimbu Deven. Boat is a survival thriller set in the pre-independence era during British colonization of India. The story revolves around a bunch of strangers from diverse cultures who during Japan’s bombing of Madras Presidency take a boat to get to the Bay of Bengal to save their lives. An unexpected situation puts the humanity of the group to test. They are forced to deboard three members among them to save the rest. The decision to pick the individuals land on Yogi Babu, the owner of the boat. The teaser of Boat which was released a few weeks back introduced miscellaneous characters on board piquing the interest of the audience.
Casting unit of Boat includes M S Bhaskar, Chinni Jayanth, Chaams, Jesse Fox Allen, Kollapuli Leela, Sha Ra, Madhumitha, and Aakshath Das. Music director Ghibran has composed music for the drama. Cinematographer Madhesh Manickam has been behind the lens. The editing department has been handled by editor Mani Maran. Art director S Ayyappan has engineered sets for the movie. The flick is bankrolled by Chimbu Deven under his production company Chimbudeven Entertainment and Prabha Premkumar for the production label Maali and Manvi Movie Makers. Sakthivelan B of Sakthi Film Factory has bagged distribution rights of the venture.
On the work front, actor Yogi Babu is currently shooting for his upcoming drama titled Medical Miracle directed by K Johnson. He will be romancing actress Dharsha Gupta of Cook with Comali fame in the movie. He will soon make his debut as a lead hero in digital space with the comedy series Chutney Sambar penciled by storyteller Radha Mohan of Abhiyum Naanum fame. Apart from these projects, the Yaanai Mugathaan actor is gearing up for successive big releases in Suriya’s period drama Kanguva filmed by storyteller Siva, Vijay’s The Greatest Of All Time crafted by director Venkat Prabhu, and Prashanth’s Andhagan directed by Thiagarajan.
