It has been a spectacular year for actor Yogi Babu with a slew of releases to his name already and with several movies in pipeline for release. The Shot Boot Three actor recently made his debut as a lead hero in digital space with his comedy web series Chutney Sambar which has been received with positive reviews. Before he could fully enjoy the success, he had the release of Boat. In no time he is looking at another release in Malai. Storyteller IP Murugesh, erstwhile assistant of directors Seenu Ramasamy and Suseenthiran has penned and directed the movie. Actress Lakshmi Menon of Kumki fame has headlined the project. Actor Kaali Venkat has depicted a pivotal part in the movie. The flick went on floors in 2022. But for reasons best known to the production unit it is still under production. The entertainer is currently in the final schedule of shoot.
The makers have now announced the release month of Malai on social media. Malai is all set to hit the screens in the month of September. An official release date is expected to be announced soon. Taking to their official X account, the production team shared a poster from the film and worded, “Malai movie. The waiting is over. Malai movie on its track! Recently talking about the entertainer to a leading media house, director IP Murugesh said, “Malai is a story of a young doctor who grew up in the urban setup happens to visit a village. She meets a phony doctor there. Conflict ensues between the two on all fronts. What happens forms the crux of the story. It is a social drama that threads on human nature to sometimes preconceive things on subjects we have not even experienced or familiar with.” Detailing on the progression of shoot he stated, “We have extensively shot the film in and around the locations of Theni. If everything goes according to plan, we should be able to complete the final schedule soon.”
The Cast of Malai also has actors Singam Puli, Semmalar Annam, and Ramachandran essaying key roles. Music director D Imman has been brought on board to compose music for the film. Theni Eswar has been trusted with the cinematography department of the flick. Editor Fenny Oliver has been bestowed with the responsibility to trim the entertainer. Art director Rahul will be designing the background. The venture is bankrolled by R Ganesh Moorthy in association with G Soundarya under the production label Lemon Leaf Creation Pvt Ltd.
On the work front, actor Yogi Babu is awaiting the grand release of Kanguva helmed by storyteller Siruthai Siva in which he has shared screen space with actor Suriya, and Vijay’s The Greatest Of All Time filmed by Venkat Prabhu. The Boomer Uncle actor is currently in the sets of director K Johnson shooting for their upcoming project Medical Miracle. Actress Dharsha Gupta of Cook with Comali fame has been booked to play the female lead part. He will soon begin to shoot for his next ventures Evidence crafted by Ranjith Manikandan in which he will be co starring with actor Sasikumar, and Poochandi filmed by Krishnan Jayaraj with actress Anjali as lead.
